FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOCAL SELF-HELP AUTHOR TO GIVE WORKSHOP

Charlottetown, PE, April 16, 2013 – Susan Doiron, an Island author, counsellor and life purpose coach, has announced her upcoming workshop “Identifying Your Beach Glass” a topic from her self help book: Finding Blue Beach Glass. This workshop will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 10am to 3pm at the Martha Spirituality Centre at SDU Place, 45 Great George Street, Charlottetown. The cost is $50 and to register, please call 902-367-3103 or email srgemma@eastlink.ca Enrollment is limited to 12 participants. Must pre-register by May 21, 2013.

One of Susan’s favourite beach activities is scavenging for beach glass. Typically, she finds brown, white, and sometimes green beach glass but rarely blue. Blue glass is a rare find indeed. For her, finding blue beach glass is like finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. It is about finding the uniqueness that lies within each of us.

Susan is passionate about helping people discover who they really are and by extension a way of being and doing in the world that gives meaning and purpose to their lives. She emphasizes that we tend to focus on external signals when choosing careers (money, status and approval of others) rather than focusing on the internal ones. Even though people achieve success during the course of their careers, if what they do is not reflective of their core self, they may become unhappy and dissatisfied.

The workshop approach and content evolved from her Master’s thesis on the same topic and eventually culminated into her self help book. Since the publication of Finding Blue Beach Glass, Susan has delivered professional and personal workshops on topics related to her book that have been positively received.

This workshop would be helpful to: people who are looking for meaning and purpose in their current work or personal lives; those who are seeking a career or interest pathway that illuminates their deeply held interests; and those who are planning a retirement transition and wish to pursue aspects of their lives that may have been pushed aside while they were busy making a living or raising a family.

In this workshop, we will begin by exploring how you can become over-identified by unhealthy roles that are not a true reflection of who you really are; identify 1-3 of your dominate vocational parts of self that  are a reflection of who you really are; and be introduced to a process that will help you develop some strategies for identifying how they may manifest more specifically in your personal and professional life.

Susan holds a Masters of Education in Counselling from Acadia University and is a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Susan is currently working as a school counsellor and in private practice as a counsellor, workshop presenter and life purpose coach. She resides in Rice Point, PEI.
